Global mid-cap manufacturing firm seeks high potential Purchasing Manager. This position reports to the President, and will be responsible for the management and coordination of the procurement and sourcing of raw materials, finished products, supplies, capital equipment and freight cost.
Responsibilities include:
Develop and implement strategic procurement plans for risk mitigation, improved long-term competitive positioning and minimizing exposure to escalation of cost drivers.
Negotiate terms and conditions in accordance with purchasing strategies.
Strategically redesign the supply-chain as necessary to achieve company goals.
Monitor conformance of products to applicable industry standards and work with 3rd party certifying companies.
Develop and implement purchasing procedures and policies consistent with company objectives.
Select vendors; assess vendor capabilities, visits vendors' offices and plants (domestic and overseas) to investigate facilities, capacity, and ability to meet quality and delivery requirements. Establish new vendor programs and partnerships.
Be an active member in the product development process. This includes new product development as well as sourcing.
Monitor shipments and shipping logistics to make sure we ship in the most efficient and cost effective manner. Negotiate freight costs with carriers.
Manage the activities of the purchasing and inventory, and purchase supplies and materials at the optimal cost and delivery cycle while maintaining lowest possible inventory levels.
Problem solving including the investigation of root cause analysis, and implement corrective action.
Monitor and communicate key industry developments and trends (shortages, price escalations, etc.).
Work with the Product Development, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Finance, and Operations departments in resolving issues and capturing opportunities.
Must have at least 7 years experience in the following areas: identifying, qualifying, developing, and maintaining domestic and global suppliers, strong track record of cost reductions, and possess broad knowledge of principles and practices within a professional field, preferably with industrial products and in a manufacturing environment. Bachelor's degree is required.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
