Number of Positions: 1
Manages and coordinates all Center programs/events; recreational, entertainment, health/wellness/senior fitness and informational activities
As part of a team develops a program plan for the entire year, staying within budget guidelines
Maintains accurate program budget records
Compiles and submits statistics and reports (such as trip registration, number of participants in activities, etc.) using standard MS Office software (Word, Excel, etc.)
Supervises, organizes and reviews the work of assigned personnel
Develops and implements life enrichment programs to meet the needs of senior citizens including educational, social and recreational activities at a regional senior center
Acts as an advocate for clients working on their behalf to secure needed services and benefits
Provides guidance and direction to subordinate and lower level staff
Performs related duties as required.
Location : Chicago Department of Family and Support Services - Senior Services
Address : Northwest Regional Center
Hours : 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Saturday and Sundayplus one full day during
week to be scheduled with supervisor
THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Gerontology, Psychology, Public Health or related field, plus one year of experience in the planning, implementation of social service programs; or a Bachelor's degree in the above listed fields, plus two years of progressively responsible experience in the planning, implementation and administration of social service programs.

Selection Criteria
This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
Previous experience administering the day to day operations of programs for seniors including, but not limited to a nutrition site or senior citizens.
Previous experience supervising staff/volunteers in the planning, implementation, administration and evaluation of programs and services for senior citizens
Previous experience working with the needs and issues affecting the elderly
Previous experience working with the resources and services provided by community social service agencies
Evaluation

An employee must be an actual resident of the City of Chicago. Proof of residency will be required at the time of employment.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
