Position Description
Job Summary
The Senior Artist serves as a mentor to the art team, working independently to create and document all aspects of a game while also coaching the junior artists to greater abilities. Expected to be well-versed in all Adobe products, share this knowledge with junior artists, and to have expert artistic abilities in drawing, rendering, graphic design, layout, color theory, character design, and animation. Re-purposing and modifying some of existing art assets into Flash will be one of the major tasks as well.
Essential Job Functions
Create exemplary art in regards to character design, color theory, layout, text treatment, and animation ability.
Continually sharpen artistic abilities through company training, independent learning, and learning from other team members.
Flash/action script animation design.
Re-purposing and modifying some of existing art assets into flash
Understanding and implementing assets for HTML5 technology
Work closely with Senior Artists and the Lead Artist, producing high-quality art in an iterative process.
Demonstrate excellent file structure and organization
Create art assets and document all art assets created with minimal mistakes.
Display a high degree of professionalism at all times, accepting critique from the Lead Artist, Game Designer, and other team members.
Mentor junior artists within the studio as well as throughout game development.
Be prepared to assist with scheduling when necessary.
Develop the ability to represent studio and/or Lead Artist when necessary.
Position Requirements
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Arts in art/animation
Required
Experience: 3 years previous experience as a Staff Artist
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Excellent drawing and rendering abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Photoshop, Flash, After Effects, Illustrator
Proficient in MS Office
Working knowledge of Illustrator, Modo or other 3D platform
Ability to self-manage time with a reasonable degree of accountability and minimal instruction
Understand how to design art for various themes and platforms
Display a high proficiency in Photoshop, After Effects, and Flash and expert proficiency in at least one or more art software application.

Portfolio (website or blog required for pre-interview)
Samples of sketch work (sketchbook or loose-leaf)
Flash animations
Layered working Photoshop, Flash, After Effects, and Studio Max files as appropriate to the position
Animation samples if animation is core ability (AVI, Quicktime, or website)
Please provide all links or DVD upon application
Physical Requirements: Office environment. Heavy computer use.
Work Conditions:May require weekend and evening hours. May require travel.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
