At OTC our sales and engineering teams work side-by-side to provide automation products and services designed to drive safety improvements for our customers manufacturing processes.
OTCs key vendors offer an array of products used in modernizing, updating, and automating processes and equipment, to deliver a more safe manufacturing environment.
This position requires a wealth of knowledge regarding the safety-based applications of products from our key vendors and manufacturers.
Working with products offered from vendors such as Euchner, Fortress, Omron, Sick, and 80/20, the Safety Products Engineer will provide the technical knowledge needed to develop and design safety systems for robot cells, fixed automation equipment, and other safety-based applications for customers.
Functional Safety Management Systems (FSMS) certification not required, but would be optimal.
Responsibilities:
Knowledge of primary safety devices such as safety light curtains, safety controllers, emergency stopping devices, safety scanners, etc.
Drive sales effectiveness by ensuring adequate product knowledge across key vendors and manufacturers Assist with client communications and on-site meetings Basic understanding of OSHA regulations and general safety machine guarding and guidelines Competency to identify when to recommend a safety survey for potential customers Ability to integrate to PLCs with industrial automation controls, including networking and communications Develop quotes/proposals and the handling of client-provided RFP documents Lead and advise on projects through technical leadership, ensuring product integrity and project efficiency Expected to be able to travel up to 50% of business days during certain busy periods of the year Perform service calls at customer facilities as necessary Analyzes and researches pertinent information in order to respond to Customer inquiries regarding product features and performance, product application, product substitution and special application requests Assisting the Sales organization to identify new potential customers At OTC Industrial Technologies, we believe that our employees are our greatest strength.
