Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal

Description Growing Chicago injury firm in the West Loop area seeking to add a Personal Injury Paralegal in the litigation department.
Position provides heavy client contact and the ability to hone litigation skills.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply! ResponsibilitiesPleadings o Draft pleadings, summons, complaints, notices of filings, notices of motion, and supporting affidavits.
o Prepare draft court orders.
o Create and maintain pleadings indexes.
o E-file pleadings with the court.
o Calendar hearing dates and filing deadlines.
o Organize case files.
Discovery o Draft interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions, and other discovery.
o Client contact to develop responses and other requests.
o Create and maintain discovery indexes and privilege logs.
o Calendar discovery deadlines.
o Organize, review, and analyze documents for production.
o Prepare deposition summaries.
Pre-Trial o Organize and index exhibits, prepare trial binders, and manage voluminous files.
o Act as liaison between the trial team and third parties (witnesses, clients, vendors, experts, court personnel).
o Prepare and issue subpoenas.
o Prepare witness files.
o Manage scheduling and communication for depositions.
Trial o Act as right-hand to attorneys including preparing and overseeing electronic exhibit presentation.
o Organize exhibits, documents, and evidence.
o Arrange for transport and set up of files and exhibits at court.
o Prepare and issue subpoenas.
o Assist in witness preparation.
o Act as liaison between clients, witnesses, experts, and the trial team.
Qualifications o Critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills are essential.
o Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook is a must.
o Bachelor's degree holders will be given preference, although paralegal certification is desirable.
o Prior paralegal experience of two years is preferred.
o Preference will be given to candidates who can speak Spanish.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
