Work closely with the Director of Human Resources and the entire Human Resources staff, all levels of sworn, support and administrative personnel, as well as various civilian personnel, in carrying out the responsibilities of the office.
Respond to and demonstrate good follow through to employee inquiries, complaints and recommendations.
Provide reports to four different unions as required, including seniority list, updated bid lists and quarterly master list.
Process transfer requests; maintain management, sworn and support staff bid lists monthly or as often as needed.
Maintain active personnel directory (annual employee updates, assignments, telephone directory and/or access database).
Maintain Personnel Files and File Room.
Assist with the collection and organization of annual employee performance appraisals.
Schedule urinalysis, psychological tests for employee and applicants chosen for armed positions Collect and reviews all New Hire Evaluations.
Communicate any concerns or issues regarding New Hires.
Collect documentation and creates interview file folders for potential employees' interviews.
Schedule interviews and testing for probation officers, support staff and all others candidates for employment.
Participate in onboarding processes, E-verify, fingerprinting and background screening.
Prepare a variety of letters and files; compile information when requested.
Type correspondence for the Director of Human Resources.
Maintain the Director of Human Resources' calendar.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Establish residency in the State of Illinois within 90 days of hire.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Prior Human Resources experience strongly preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint programs.
Have excellent oral and written communication skills, and superior command of English grammar.
Ability to perform a variety of tasks, prioritizing based on the Director's need, and ability to change assignments on short notice.
Demonstrate sensitivity to issues of confidentiality and professionalism.
Possess the ability to exercise independent judgment within prescribed limits and complete miscellaneous projects and problem solving.
Possess the ability to work independently and within a team structure.
Demonstrate strong multitasking, organizational and time management skills.
Possess the ability to complete all duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
On a continuous basis, sit at a desk for long periods of time in front of a computer screen.
Able to ambulate throughout the office.
Intermittently twist to reach equipment or supplies surrounding desk.
Perform simple grasping and fine manipulation.
Strength to lift files, supplies, and boxes of files weighing up to 50 pounds.
Use telephone and computer keyboard on a daily basis.
Ability to work in-person 100% of the scheduled work week.
This position requires a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
