Compliance Counsel

CompanyYour responsibilitiesEducation and JD from an accredited law school and bar license required.
CCEP-I a plus, but not required.
Required 6 to 8 years corporate compliance-relevance experience (large law firm, government, and/or in-house) with a focus on various aspects of antitrust and competition laws of the US, including but not limited to antitrust implications of day-to day business decisions, antitrust risk assessments and audits, internal and/or criminal antitrust investigations, civil antitrust litigation, and/or merger clearance.
Additional antitrust experience in Mexico and Canada preferred, but not required.
Experience with or basic knowledge of FCPA/anti-corruption laws, money laundering prevention, data privacy/data protection, foreign trade laws, export controls, and/or sanctions law is preferred, but not required.

Self-motivated, resourceful, autodidact and strong research skills, willingness to follow developments in the law and continue learning, and ability to complete matters without extensive supervision.
Willingness to learn at least one core Compliance topic outside of antitrust/competition law.

Ability to develop strong working relationships with senior management; demonstrated skills in client management.
Sound business judgment, with the ability to recognize the business consequences of legal advice.
Strong cross-cultural sensitivity, can work with differences in style and cultures, and adjust work and communication style accordingly.
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Proven ability to build collaborative partnerships at all levels of a highly matrixed global organization.
Exceptional organizational, time management, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, coordinate, and satisfy numerous competing demands.
Ability to travel approximately 20-25%, domestically and internationally.
Knowledge of or background with automotive industry or metals distribution and trading is a plus, but not required.
Speaking and writing proficiency in Spanish preferred.
Working ConditionsWorking environment is primarily remote, but candidate must be able to travel to the Chicagoland area on a quarterly basis, to various group company locations in US, Mexico and Canada as needed for compliance activities (e.
g.
, classroom trainings, workshops, etc), and on occasion (generally once a year), to Germany.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
