Summary:
The Human Resource Generalist will assist in running the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department administering background checks, benefits, and enforcing company policies and practices and assist in administering pay and leave.
This position will report to the Director of Human Resources and will own the state credentialing (badging) process, ensuring that all employees are correctly licensed to work in the IL cannabis industry in advance of their first shift.

Aids new employees through the state credentialing process, ensuring application materials submitted to the State of IL meets all requirements.
Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
Coordinates and conducts weekly new hire orientations.
Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
Assists in performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Oversees daily maintenance of digital employee files, HRIS, Helpdesk tickets, and scheduling platform.
Coordinates daily medical and 401(k) benefits processing.
Handles enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries.
Compiles or assists with the acquisition of complex data reports, summaries, and logs for senior executives and HR staff.
Coordinates transfers of benefit data to and from external vendors for services, premiums, contributions, and plan administration.
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
Develop strong working relationships with our field leadership, partnering with them to successfully onboard and offboard employees.
Occasionally conduct site visits to various dispensaries to better understand challenges of the field team.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in cannabis, human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Education, Credentials, and
Experience:
At least 21 years of age Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
SHRM-CP a plus.
Ability to obtain a dispensing organization agent identification card issued by Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Division of Professional Regulation.
Satisfy company requirements for vaccination against COVID-19, or obtain approved medical or religious exemption.
Physical Demands:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Occasionally lifting, moving, or carrying store inventory, weighing up to 50 pounds.
Occasionally ascending/descending ladders or stairs.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
