Real Estate Controller

Seeking Real Estate Controller to oversee the accounting and financial activities of a growing boutique multi-family real estate investment company. This Controller should have prior experience in the investment management, accounting, reporting and tax areas, and enjoy being in an entrepreneurial investment management role.
Responsibilities:
Manage the financial corporate accounting function which includes;
Maintaining the general ledger for multiple LLC's
Processing accounts payables for all entities and managing payroll.
Monitoring monthly statements from 3rd party management firms.
Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
Developing and distributing monthly and quarterly reports to investors.
Processing accounts payables for all entities and managing payroll.
Prepare bank deposits.
Reconciling bank statements.
Monitoring and advising on cash positions.
Processing quarterly distributions to investors.
Assist with the preparation of the annual tax returns.
Investment tracking and performance measurement for multiple real estate entities. Responsible for monitoring of cash position and requirements for liquidity, return and banking relationships.
Provide lenders with required reporting and documentation on all loans.
Manage the funding and approval process of internal and external investments.
Monitoring and preparing construction draws with General Contractors.
Provide support to owners including but not limited to investing assets and monitoring personal finances.
Working with principals to analyze acquisitions.
Working with principals to maintain and update marketing materials.
Working with principals to develop and grow the business.
Hands on approach to accounting - must be willing to role-up sleeves and know the accounting at each entity level in detail
Qualifications:
Minimum of 7 years of relevant real estate experience (residential development, property management, construction) required.
Background should have strong accounting, real estate management background.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred, and CPA would be a plus but not required.
Knowledge of financial returns (IRR's) and partnership structures.
Strong communication skills.
Strong skills in Excel.
Strong working knowledge of various accounting software packages including Quickbooks.
Currently 3rd party affiliate property managers use Buildium and Rent Manager.
