Physical Scientist / Environmental Engineer

You will:
Conduct sound, useful analyses of ambient air monitoring data Conduct field activities to collect ambient air data and perform subsequent analysis Provide leadership and expertise to state monitoring programs, including analysis of monitoring data, annual network plans, monitor siting, quality assurance, and technical system audits. In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:
To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as evaluating air quality program performance and progress; evaluating policy, laws, and/or regulations to support program performance recommendations related to air monitoring activities. Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
Skill in planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing analyses to support ambient air monitoring projects Ability to conduct sound scientific analyses, assuring that the analysis and results are based on best practices Skill in communicating highly technical information to a technical or non-technical audience Knowledge of air monitoring, quality assurance, and data analysis techniques Ability to lead enhanced ambient air monitoring and data analysis for headquarters and other regions, upon request, and for private, federal, state, tribe, interstate and international agencies Ability to operate advanced monitoring technology Ability to provides leadership and expertise in the review and timely response to state monitoring programs Skill in written communication Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
