Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.In this position, you will provide program and administrative support to the Division Director and coordinate assigned program activities for FEMA's Region 5. Typical assignments include:
Establishing and managing a sophisticated correspondence tracking system to ensure that deadlines are met and actions are completed, including receiving all correspondence, screen publications, directives, and periodicals, and bringing items of significance to the supervisor's attention; responding to written correspondences; and navigating the organizational hierarchy to determine the appropriate staff members to handle technical matters. Track Division budget and procurement actions. Ensuring that practices and procedures used by staff in subordinate organizational segments are consistent with those of the supervisor's office. Preparing travel authorizations and travel vouchers for the Mitigation Division staff and leadership, including coordinating with the internal programs to ensure that sufficient funds and proper authorizations are in place. Assisting in arranging and conducting conferences/meetings with community groups, state and local officials, private industry and public agencies. Promotion Potential:
Future promotions will be dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, the continuing need for an employee assigned to the higher level, and administrative approval. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The time-in-grade requirement must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.The qualification requirements listed below must be met within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. You qualify for this position at the GS-7 level (starting salary $47,965) if you possess the following:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-5) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Utilizing office automation systems to create and edit documents, reports, spreadsheets, and databases; and Coordinating stakeholder meetings, conferences, or program activities; and Preparing, editing, and tracking required documents for records management. OR1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement ORCombination of education and experience You qualify for this position at the GS-9 level (starting salary $58,672) if you possess the following:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-7) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Utilizing office automation systems to create and edit documents, reports, spreadsheets, and databases; and Coordinating stakeholder meetings, conferences, or program activities; and Preparing, editing, and tracking required documents for records management; and Recommending administrative policy or procedure changes to leadership to support operational consistency. ORMaster's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related ORCombination of education and experience Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
