Director, Center of Equity for Creative Arts at City Colleges of Chicago in Chicago, IL

Reporting to the college President or an assigned administrator, the Director - Center of Equity for Creative Arts (CECA) leads and champions the mission of CECA:
to educate, expose, and empower students and Chicago's southside community to foster excellence and equity in the creative arts. The Director of CECA provides strategic leadership to ensure established goals and objectives are met; optimizes the operations of administrative service areas in support of a student-centered environment for CECA; and works to promote the new Center of Equity for Creative Arts to foster community, industry, civic and campus collaboration to further its goas. Performs related duties as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Provide leadership and strategic direction for CECA at Kennedy-King College. Cultivate partnerships for CECA that will provide students with expanded experiential learning opportunities in arts, media, music, film, theatre, and visual communications employment, internships, shadowing, and apprenticeship opportunities. Identify avenues for introducing CECA to the broadest audience possible and position CECA as a convener and catalyst for collaborating across a wide spectrum of regional, national, and international cultural and creative arts mediums. Lead the thoughtful development of new partnerships on behalf of CECA while nurturing and fortifying existing relationships with industry partners, both in the corporate and non-profit sectors. Partner with the CECA committee and advisory council to identify enterprise ventures from which students can gain relevant instructional and work-related training as well as exposure opportunities. Provide leadership and coordination for the CECA Advisory Council and CECA Campus Committee by maintaining regular meetings, goals and strategic direction in alignment with the foundational pillars that include:
Academic Pathways, Community Engagement, Creative Arts Incubator and serving as a Creative Arts Hub. Establish and ensure the implementation of procedures necessary to achieve exceptional operations of CECA programming, tours, bookings, and events. Work with campus facilities office and creative arts partners to schedule the utilizations of the unique creative arts spaces on campus that include but are not limited to soundstage studios, theatre, black box, radio station, Sikia restaurant, as well as other campus locations. Collaborate with the Division of Enrollment Management to drive CECA related programming to student enrollment, retention, change management, metric attainment and other priority initiatives. Enhance CECA's positioning on campus and within the community by leading the establishment of a CECA art gallery as well as other creative arts spaces that expand the footprint of arts, media, music, film, visual communications, and theatre. Develop and facilitate CECA summer youth programming as well as intergeneration initiatives such as music festivals and concerts in collaboration with CECA campus and creative arts partners. Serve as the primary project manager for CECA related strategic priorities including but not limited to managing follow-up as well as prioritizing critical issues and required information for the college to facilitate efficient decision-making; monitors progress/achievement of next steps. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Master's Degree preferred Five years of progressively responsible project management experience in a highly complex, multi-layered organization Prior experience in an administrative role in a performing art, media entertainment and/or communications organization preferred. Creative arts or cultural event planning and management experience Knowledge of project management principles and practices Demonstrated ability to interact and work collaboratively across functions, levels and departments toward shared objectives Experience using social media and other marketing tools to successfully promote performing arts, media and/or communications events Demonstrated passion for working in culturally diverse environments with a commitment to equity and inclusion. Capacity to lead, manage, motivate, inspire, and collaborate with campus members and the Kennedy-King College community Self-awareness, self-management, social-awareness, and relationship management skills (emotional intelligence) Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to research diverse education related topics and distill the key messages for presentations Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
