Zekelman Industries seeks a Senior Staff Accountant - Operations located in Chicago, IL. Reporting to the Director - US Finance, the Senior Staff Accountant leads the day to day operational accounting activities for the assigned manufacturing and company locations.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the monthly financial close, completing all processes for assigned companies including journal entries, analytics, commentary, and reporting Complete assigned monthly account reconciliations accurately and timely in accordance to standards Responsible for quarterly stockroom reserve calculation and analysis for all assigned company operations Review and assist with issues to manage GRIR and open AP issues lists to current for all companies Monitor inventory reports daily, looking for material set up errors (ie unit of measure) that erroneously impact the net valuation of inventory for the location Prepare and issue weekly spending reports to assigned company operations Review all purchase requisitions issued for assigned company codes, ensuring financial coding is accurate Review weekly/ monthly incentive calculations for assigned company operations Create and maintain yield analysis for each plant Create and maintain yield adder tracking file to monitor specialty additions to incentive payout vs material cost savings for any plant impacted Develop process and maintain records for monthly internal audit of cycle count process for stockrooms, ensuring no audit issues upon review Prepare quarterly forecast updates for assigned companies, update consolidated model as required Assist Planning team with monitoring master and slit coil for aged items, developing plan for use, transfer, or disposal Manage all cross charges in or out of assigned companies to other Zekelman companies Lead the annual budget process for assigned, update consolidated reporting as required Support the annual external audit as required Review cost savings initiatives for financial benefits Adhoc reporting as required Assist with Training of new hires as required. Attend Ops meetings, champion open item lists, manage meeting minutes as required, follow up on open issues as necessary Complete all required statistical data, questionnaires, or rebate application requests for assigned companies Develop and maintain procedural documentation for all aspects of the role Meet all required due dates with completeness and accuracy Perform other duties as assigned Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy
Qualifications:
College/University graduate with 5
years of experience with general ledger accounting, closing, and manufacturing. Ideally CPA or working towards designation. Must have extensive advanced knowledge of Excel or similar spreadsheet use. Experience with SAP software would be a plus. Must have excellent analytical skills and accounting knowledge. Ability to communicate with management at all levels in a professional manner and have good writing skills to summarize findings. Some travel may be required - must be able to travel within US or Canada. Significant part of workday will be spent on a personal computer. M/F/D/V We are Zekelman Industries. Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Accounting, Banking, Loans & InsuranceEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
