Maintenance Manager at zekelman industries in Chicago, IL

Zekelman Industries, is searching for a Maintenance Manager for our Atlas Tube division located in Chicago, IL, south of the city. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager will supervise and direct the day-to-day activities of the maintenance staff through scheduling, planning, and coaching. A successful candidate will develop, implement, and administer maintenance programs while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, trade, management procedures, plant standards as well as all provincial and federal laws and guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Oversees the implementation of the plant's overall preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Responsible for the departmental budget. Manages a maintenance team across three shifts Keeps records of equipment failures and provides needed information and data to the Plant Manager. Determines and recommends whether existing machinery/equipment components are to be reconditioned or replaced by new components. Manages equipment maintenance shutdown responsibilities. Establishing and maintaining contractor/vendor relationships Keeps the plant's maintenance manual and safety manual up to date, making sure that they comply with requirements of the local, state, and federal government. Assures vendor maintenance and repair manuals are kept current and filed properly. Responsible for enforcing and overseeing safety regulations, maintaining good housekeeping and compliance with the labor agreement. Supervise the maintenance team and their work assignments throughout the production shift Provide guidance and technical assistance during equipment breakdowns in an effort to resume production in a safe and timely manner Monitor performance and team effectiveness through workmanship audits and constructive feedback Communicate expected standards and work methods Ensure that all work performed is done so in accordance to established safety, quality, legal standards and regulations and the values and company philosophies Determines the type and amount of materials required on job, initiates requisitions, and insures that necessary materials are available at job site. Coordinate maintenance activities with the Production and Warehouse departments Work with the Purchasing department to procure materials needed for maintenance tasks Communicate all employee suggestions to the Maintenance Manager for plant improvement and assists in their development and implementation Provide input towards budget development Provide input towards plant equipment and process improvement opportunities Assist with recruitment, performance evaluations, goal setting and employee discipline, as required Responsible for special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of five years Mechanical/Electrical supervisory trades experience in heavy industry Demonstrated leadership, team building, organizational & interpersonal skills Demonstrated analytical, motivational and communications skills Ability to coordinate, multitask, and set and achieve goals Effective time management, judgment and troubleshooting/problem solving skills Ability to understand complex maintenance issues Thorough knowledge of safety regulations, scheduling and maintenance management systems Ability to supervise complex maintenance & repair tasks Skilled in reading technical drawings and schematics Computer Literacy (MS Office programs) Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Engineering Management, Mechanical EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
