About Us We're looking for a skilled Software Development Manager to manage Potbelly's e-commerce applications as well as other internal applications, ensuring a high-quality, sophisticated experience for our customers and employees. This individual must be an excellent project manager with the ability to interact with internal development teams and agency partners to execute projects flawlessly. The ideal candidate will have a high attention to detail and be a champion of website development best practices and processes and deliver on time and on budget. This individual must have the ability to articulate clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical stakeholders and have an eye for UI/UX concepts and designs. Job Responsibilities Lead and build a Web/Full-stack engineering team by hiring exceptional talent, coach, retain and develop team members Care deeply about code craftsmanship and quality, bringing an enthusiasm for using the best practices of scalability, accessibility, maintenance, observability, automation testing strategies, and documentation into everyday development Collaborate with multiple mission team leads (a cross-functional scrum team focused on a specific, well-defined mission) to scope, plan, design, and build new features and maintain existing functionality in a fast-paced agile environment and ensure long term goals are not compromised Partnering with marketing, technology, project management and analytics stakeholders to balance aggressive roadmap against engineering principles Lead and participate in technical, design, and product discussions with leaders across the organization to drive right decision-making for the long term Lead by example and hold your teammates and yourself to high engineering standards and advocacy instilling a sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability Develop efficient processes, ensuring the engineering team is operating with high velocity, and always look for opportunities to continuously improve and become better every day Ensure 24x7x365 always available production grade services Job Location 111 N Canal, Suite 850, Chicago, Illinois 60606 Description and Requirements Job Requirements Must have:

years of experience in leading and building Web/Full-stack engineering teams Passion for leading, hiring and developing direct reports to build high performant team; providing feedback, guidance, consultation, and opportunities towards improving their professional skill set 8-10
years of experience delivering enterprise class JavaScript web applications and services, with at least 3 most recent years working with Node.js and React.js 6
years of experience with web frontend technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, Webpack, LESS, Bootstrap, Dust etc., and solid understanding of cross-browser, cross-platform, and design constraints on the web Solid understanding of concepts like Web Services, Restful APIs, Graph QL, Distributed and Scalable Architecture 3
years of experience in building and managing complex, highly scalable and performant web applications and services Experience turning strategies and plans into reality, partnering with product and design to scope, plan and prioritize work. And a commitment to continuous improvement (yourself, your teammates, our software) Eagerness to share your ideas, and openness to those of others. Ability to work autonomously to drive clarity in ambiguous situations Exceptional communication skills and experience balancing diverse priorities in a fair and transparent manner. Ability to navigate difficult conversations, both on your team and with stakeholder teams Nice to have:
Experience in managing distributed (onshore, nearshore and offshore) engineering teams Experience with DevOps tools and practices including CI/CD, and Observability (e.g.:

Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+
Minimum Qualification
