HR Manager

Zekelman Industries, Inc seeks a HR Manager for our office, located in downtown Chicago. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, with a dotted line to the Vice President of Human Resources, the primary responsibility for this role is to maintain and enhance the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and HR policies, programs for both our Chicago, IL office and our Troy, MI office. This role will also serve as the Leave Management Specialist for the Company as well as manage the day to day work for the Receptionist at the downtown office. RESPONSIBILITIES HR Manager Responsibilities Administer compensation, benefits and performance management systems programs for Chicago, IL and Troy, MI offices Identify staff vacancies and work with managers/talent acquisition team on candidate selections Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, managing disputes, conducting investigations, administering disciplinary procedures and terminating employees when necessary. Manage the location's receptionist by ensuring day to day duties are complete Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning people-related data Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee exit Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations Manage the scholarship program for Zekelman Industries. Other duties as needed Leave Management Responsibilities Provide information regarding Leave of Absence policies, guidelines and legislation Receive and process Leave requests Assess, adjudicate, track and monitor all Leave claims Complete and ensure accurate documentation for all Leave activities Work with Payroll and Benefits to ensure employees on applicable Leaves are paid accurately and are appropriately enrolled in benefits (as applicable) Authorize returns to work using physician documentation, departmental ability to comply with restrictions, and knowledge of the physical requirements of the existing job or alternate job Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act with regard to all request for accommodations Assist team members in getting back to work and receiving appropriate benefits according to Company policies and legal requirements Abide by documented standardized best-practice processes when handling inquiries, transactions and requests Ensure employee privacy, including confidentiality and protection of sensitive employee reports or information Attend and participate in on-going training to support the ever-changing environment Demonstrate an ability to learn and actively seek out knowledge in a self-guided, keyword driven and document heavy knowledgebase Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate for the HR Manager will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Business, or Human Resources, and at least 5-7 years of related HR Management experience. Previous leave management experience is important. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Experience using Human Resources Information Systems, experience working with ADP Workforce now is a plus Experience with report writing tools Strong employee relations skills Strong Microsoft Office skills, specifically as an Excel power user Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to travel as needed to the Troy, MI office (usually about once per month) Legally eligible for employment in the United States Regular, in-person full time attendance is an essential function of this role Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
HR ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
