We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Director of Digital Publishing & Content Strategy on our Marketing and Membership Experience team. As a Director of Digital Publishing & Content Strategy you will direct and lead publication of content to AMA website, including tagging, promotion activation, interlinking strategy, and digital activation of all content developed throughout the organization and aligned with business objectives. Advises Business units on best practices on digital publishing, responsible for content creation, maintenance, updates, and optimization initiatives. Drives the digital customer experience for ama-assn.org by utilizing technical features and functionality to foster discoverability and engagement. De facto curator of digital content for the AMA website.
Responsibilities:
Content strategy, creation, maintenance, and optimization Collaborates with Business Units to create, review, approve content; advise Business Unit based on best practices and AMA digital objectives Develops and implements strategies to create and organize content both topically and in alignment with AMA brand positioning enhancing the user experience and streamline digital wayfinding Leads collaboration with publishing and marketing operations from AMA EdHub, JAMA and other platforms teams, including Finder products, to ensure cross-platform discoverability to deepen engagement with users to drive enterprise business objectives Lead quarterly content audits, anticipate business unit requests, and recommend, create and publish content improvements to drive audience growth and value from existing content assets Partner with Digital Product Team to influence product roadmap and deliver on SEO growth opportunities. Establish and manage to OKR and monthly scorecards Maintain and expand search engine optimized content and expand database content publishing capabilities - generating structured, discoverable web pages from AMA-owned data Identify and implement new opportunities to strategically grow and enhance the AMA website Digital publishing operations Directs production resources ensuring content is published at the highest quality for internal and external discoverability Identifies and implements process improvements to ensure workflows are efficient, documented, and scalable Establish priorities for production, and communicates and mitigation plans with stakeholders as deadlines are impacted; develops and maintains production milestones and completion dates Directs QA progress and review content for quality issues to ensure deadlines are met throughout all phases of publishing Manage $200,000 freelance publishing budget to support routine maintenance and content migration from microsites to digital platform Manage governance content and extranet Communicates with GVP & Chief of Staff, Director, House of Delegates, Council Leadership, and Sections Leadership, to capture user feedback, website requirements and content needs to support governance operations of the AMA Prioritizes the digitals needs of governance audience, allocates resources to develop content, and advocates for technical functionality enhancements Staff Management Lead, mentor and provide management oversight for professional staff Responsible for setting objectives, evaluating performance and developing advancing staff skills/expertise May include other responsibilities as assigned REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree required; concentration in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Journalism, or other related coursework preferred Minimum 12 years of experience producing and publishing content to digital platforms Minimum 3-5 years experience with staff management, with proven ability to lead full-time and contract resources Proficient in publishing content through content management systems; Drupal experience required Experience managing multiple large scale, highly-visible projects simultaneously, under tight timelines and interfacing with executive leadership; working knowledge of project management tools such as Asana, Workfront, Basecamp, etc. required Familiarity with complex technology and file formats to facilitate digital publishing processes Exceptional time and project management skills, with keen attention to process improvement and efficiency in production workflows Strong written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to write content and express technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences Exceptional interpersonal skills; proven ability to collaborate organization-wide AMA's safety and policy protocols require proof of vaccination against COVID19 for employment at AMA. Salary Range:
$200K -- $250K
