Chief Information Officer The Office of Information Technology (OIT) supports improved student outcomes by providing an innovative technology environment that supports student success and improves teaching, learning, and operations.
OIT is comprised of eight departments:
Technology Customer Service & Support, Enterprise Information Management, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Applications, Infrastructure Services, Web Services, Technical Programs and Project Management, IT Security, and College Information Technology.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE Reporting to the Chancellor, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a member of the Executive Leadership team.
The CIO is responsible for providing innovative vision, strategy and leadership in creating technology policy and planning for the management of technology systems for the instructional, institutional research, and administrative functions of the City Colleges of Chicago (CCC).
The CIO leads and manages OIT operations at the District and across CCC's seven colleges to effectively address current and future technology needs and to lead on-going and continuous efforts in building the organization's data and analytics capabilities to effectively use data and analytic insights to inform and improve business process performance and drive District-wide decision-making.
The CIO draws upon their IT experience in the academic environment and knowledge of current trends and emerging technologies in IT to create a unified IT strategy and delivery model, and provides the leadership, project management, and change management expertise necessary to implement IT initiatives, and to provide a leading-edge technology environment for students, faculty and staff in support of CCC's mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES Develops an overall IT strategic plan to maintain a robust and unified information technology infrastructure, implement an academic and administrative technology strategy, and deliver a maximum return on investment in technology resources.
Manages the operations of the Office of Information Technology, directing management staff responsible for overseeing IT functions including web service, administrative computing, networking, user services, telecommunications, infrastructure services, and security.
Partners with campus leadership on strategies that will enhance the teaching and learning process, and coordinates work efforts with the Provost's Office on academic computing and distance learning strategies; Works closely with senior managers to provide IT support in areas to include institutional research, finance, human resources, facilities managements, student services, and enrollment management.
Provides leadership and works with District OIT in assessing operational and technology needs, and formulating strategies and work plans to achieve integrated, efficient and cost-effective technology solutions.
Works with key stakeholders at the colleges IT Departments to develop, implement, and advance an overall shared vision for campus technology.
Implements technology innovations and improvements based on continual assessment of institutional technology needs.
Oversees and directs projects designed to streamline administrative processes through the use of technology to improve operational efficiencies.
Creates an environment that ensures the integrity of institutional information, including the development, oversight and assessment of disaster recovery and backup procedures.
Determines procedures and technologies to keep CCC sensitive information secure.
Provides advice and guidance to management on the emerging challenges in information security faced by academic institutions and leads initiatives to implement strategies to effectively mitigate the risks.
Consults with senior management and key stakeholder at the District and campuses to exchange information, present new approaches, and discuss equipment/system changes.
Fosters a work environment that encourages a culture of high performance focused on improving operations, streamlining work operations, and providing quality customer service.
Establishes goals and performance and accountability measures to ensure managers are meeting timelines and goals, working within budgetary guidelines, and providing a high level of customer and service delivery.
Effectively manages operating budgets.
Manages key relationships with IT vendors and service providers.
Participates in vendor contract negotiations for new computer equipment, cloud computing and software purchases.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reports To Chancellor Direct Supervision District Office OIT Executive Directors, IT Managers and Directors, Executive Office Manager QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field Ten years of overall IT experience, including five years of senior/management level experience managing IT operations, preferably in a higher education institution Experience in a higher education setting in which technology is a key component in the delivery of education and ensuring compliance with accreditation regulations is desirable Proven experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning and development, project management, and policy development Knowledge of enterprise-wide systems (e.
g.
, PeopleSoft) Proven ability to lead the implementation and expansion of new IT technologies Knowledge of a broad range of Information Technology areas, including academic and administrative computing, ERP software solutions, and Information Security Knowledge of infrastructure management tools, methods and processes Knowledge of project management principles and practices Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Strong project management skills Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment Ability to maintain an environment that fosters excellent customer service Ability to build a high-performance computing environment Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) We offer:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
