Wish Coordinating Intern- Fall 2023

Organizational Overview:
Since being founded locally in 1985, Make-A-Wish Illinois has granted more than 15,000 wishes and continues its mission to share the power of a wish with children in all 102 counties across the state.
A wish can be a game-changer for a child with a critical illness.

It inspires us to grant life-changing wishes for children going through so much.
Life-changing wish journeys are made possible by dedicated staff and volunteers who fulfill the work of our mission, helping children discover, create, fulfill and experience the lasting impact of their most heartfelt wish.
The Wish Coordinating internship provides candidates the opportunity to experience the magic of Make-A-Wish firsthand by directly contributing to the wish planning process.
Interns will work directly with our Wish Coordinators on the planning and execution of wishes.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Researching travel information, vendors, special wish activities Identifying vendors for local wish experiences and requesting discounts/donations Putting together and mailing goody bags, packets, and materials for wish families Pulling wish itineraries and populating with wish logistic details Assisting with data entry and pulling wish related reports Assisting with wish paperwork Assisting with special projects for unique wish types Other duties as needed.
Time Commitment:
Internship will take place from September through December.
Part-time, hybrid work with one day in the office per week and remainder of work completed remotely.
RequirementsSkills and Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment Desire to contribute to the mission of Make-A-Wish Preferred
Qualifications:
Coursework in Social Work, Events Management, Non-Profit Management, Medicine, and/or NursingAdditional Requirements:
Must be able to commute to our downtown Chicago office (we are located in the River North neighborhood) Minimum age for all internships is 18 Selected candidates will be asked to participate in a criminal background check.

All internships are unpaid.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
