Job SummaryThe Associate Director administers pre-award and post-award activitiesrelating to grant and contract proposals/funding which includespreparing applications and editing proposals.
Post-award activitiesinclude compliance monitoring, payment processing, financial reporting,budget projections, and salary allocations.
The Associate Director actsas a resource for colleagues with less experience.
The Associate Director manages monthly, quarterly, and year-endfinancial reporting for faculty accounts.
The Associate Director isresponsible for the fiscal management of day-to-day financialtransactions initiated by faculty and/or affecting faculty accounts,ensuring timely and accurate processing.
The Associate Director usesbest practices and expertise to develop budgets, taking intoconsideration actual performance, previous expenditures, and estimatedexpenses and income.
Creates financial models and maintains accuraterecords of spending and budgetary control measures.
By ensuring thecompletion and accuracy of these financial functions, the AssociateDirector is contributing to the financial health and accurate budgetingcapabilities of Harris.
Responsibilities Looks for funding opportunities and discusses interests withfaculty; creates and manages profiles within the Universitydatabase.
Budget and forecasting for grants and awards as part of the facultyportfolio.
Advises Research Center Executive Directors and management whooversee grants.
Communicates and collaborates with URA to facilitate smoothtransition throughout the full grant life cycle.
Seeks new avenues for funding and grant opportunities and ensuresthat notices of relevant opportunities are brought to facultyattention.
Works with sponsors to draft proposal budgets inaccordance with university needs, with a moderate level of guidanceand direction.
Performs compliance review of all proposals for adherence to university,agency, and federal requirements.
Coordinates active grant management activities, including submission ofprogress reports, non-competing applications, amendments, technicalreports, just-in time submissions, no-cost extensions, agency requiredre-budgeting, carry-over requests, Data Use Agreements, and MaterialTransfer Agreements.
Manages the execution of Sub-awards, Sponsored Consulting Agreements,and Sub-award AmendmentsWorks with minimal guidance to provide analytical support for complexbudget projects.
Examines past budgets to research economic andfinancial developments that affect spending.
Develops financial documents such as budgets, spending reports, balancesheets and financial statements, ensuring all meet applicable internaland external requirements.
Submits annual budget and monthly forecasts for faculty a counts to theBudget Office via Delphi/Oracle Planning systems.
Provides specialized analysis and administration of the budget.
Reports on variances between the approved budget and actual performanceand recommends revised procedures.
Works independently to manage the general ledger and create financialstatements, regulatory reports, and management reports.
Maintains, reconciles, and corrects errors in accounts on a timely basisto ensure accuracy.
Develops reports on discrepancies, missing or pending payments,unauthorized or inappropriate charges.
The job develops and maintains accounting policies and controls, createsfinancial reports, and safeguards assets.
Examines and analyzes complex accounting records for the purpose ofdetermining gains and losses, receipt and disbursements, and inventory.
Guides others and acts as a resource on systems of recording costs orother financial and budgetary data.
Advises faculty of problem spendingpatterns including both under and over-spending; providesrecommendations as needed.
Works independently to maintain and support planning and execution offinancial strategy; receives minimal guidance.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
