Job Description:
Location Candidates must be located within the greater Chicago area with the ability to travel easily within the Chicagoland area.
Currently, the office location is 1850 West Fulton in Chicago.
In August, Intelligentsia will move to 7300 S Central Ave in Bedford Park.
A Production Associate (Packaging) is an integral member of our Operations team who ensures that customer orders are fulfilled under our roast-to-order model each day.
In this role, employees will be exposed to all aspects of our operations including labeling bags, blending roasted coffee, packaging roasted coffee, and fulfillment of orders.
Employees will be assigned to one of the teams below but will be exposed to all different aspects of our operations.
Depending on the order volume, production employees may assist other teams to ensure we ship orders every day.
The duties and responsibilities for each production team are listed below.
Labeling Team Assist with downloading and printing labels as needed Accurately apply UPC labels & front labels either by hand or by using labeling applicator equipment Gain a proper understanding of operating all printers and label applicators Must have attention to detail and understand the importance of proper label placement Assist in managing back and label inventory and organization Clean up workstations after the end of every production day Packing Team Proper understanding and operation of Weigh & Fill packing line Filling 12oz or 5lb bags with WB or GR coffee, ensuring proper weight Placing filled & sealed bags in designated area on the shipping rack to be picked by Shipping Team Operate table and standing grinders with proper grind number Must have attention to detail and understand the importance of weight accuracy, grind accuracy, proper bag sealing, and proper shelf organization Clean up workstations after the end of every production day Toyo Team Understand how to operate the box erector and taping station Be able to accurately load labels into the case labeler and trouble shoot machine issues Accurately palletize cased coffee after it is boxed and labeled Move with purpose and maintain the speed of the packaging line Ensure all bags are properly folded and stickered according to product specifications Assist with cleaning and maintaining packaging line Clean up workstations after the end of every production day Shipping Team Pull product from the shipping rack & fulfill UPS, USPS and Fedex orders according to packing slip & shipping tag Properly secure and pack merchandise and wholesale orders to prevent damage Must have attention to detail and ensure all orders are fulfilled with appropriate product with corresponding grind number and quantities.
Assist with loading and unloading trailers and shipments Cleaning Duties as assigned Blending Team Ensure the correct coffee is used in the correct blends in the correct amounts.
Follows recipes as directed by the Blend Recipe Guide Blend and grind coffee based on the system generated work orders Manage Issuing of work orders and bagging completions in Netsuite Properly route each roast batch of coffee using the routing guidance provided by NetSuite system WIP counts as directed by Plant Manager General Participate and adhere to training on Food Safety and workplace safety Escalate all potential Food Safety and OSHA issues to Leads or Managers Participate in cleaning tasks as directed Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or GED required.
Language and Skills Ability to read and speak English proficiently.
