The Payroll Director will manage a team of 10 and oversee payroll, tax, and equity for over 5,000 employees globally.

This hire will be based out of their Chicago office.

Description

Responsibilities of the Payroll Director include:

  • Lead the North America Payroll team in developing, implementing, and overseeing payroll programs for operations in the United States and Canada within the firm and its affiliates.
  • Manage compliance requirements for North American payroll operations, including the development and implementation of payroll policies and practices.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on the interpretation of payroll policies and practices.
  • Enhance data audit processes to ensure consistency and accuracy of automated data.
  • Stay updated on current laws, trends, and best practices in payroll, compensation, and benefits, and assess them for potential implementation, making recommendations when necessary.
  • Manage general ledger processes and foster relationships between payroll and accounting stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Employee Tax Team and multinational pay and tax vendors for calculation and remittance processes, as well as internal HR and assignee communication for seamless processing.
  • Work with project teams to automate payroll processes through HRIS enhancements and implementations.
  • Develop a team of benefits experts across both countries and ensure cross-training for business continuity purposes.
  • Promote a customer service mindset within the Payroll team and vendors, and provide coaching and assessment of team members and vendors across all aspects of the Payroll service delivery model.

Profile

Qualifications of the Payroll Director include:

  • 10
    years of experience in managing payroll for 5,000 employees across multiple locations/geographies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience within the Financial Services industry.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with vendors, managers, employees, and HR team members.
  • Analytical skills to develop comprehensive analysis and proposals.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and the ability to align current programs for compliance.
  • Ability to translate vision into action, manage multiple priorities, improve operations, and maintain positive relationships while delivering results.
  • Expertise and leadership regarding payroll requirements for employee equity grants/vesting, including multinational taxation and expatriate employees.
  • Experience with Workday Payroll is required.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain continuous engagement within the team and across departments.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
