Summary Tends machine that performs one or more packaging functions such as marking, labeling, packing or wrapping product by performing the following duties.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Starts machine and observes operation to detect malfunctions of machine.


Stops machine and reports malfunction to supervisor.


Makes minor adjustments or repairs such as opening valves, changing forming and setting guides, or clearing away damaged product or packages.


Inspects packages to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications.


Feeds product to conveyors and unloads packaged product.


Replenishes packaging supplies such as film, card stock, ribbon, ink, or labels.


Mounts supplies on spindles or other feeding devices.


Performs metal detector checks and documents results on approved forms and documents product information on approved forms for tracking and traceability.


Supervisory Responsibilities


Assist Packaging Supervisors to supervise 10 to 20 employees in the Packaging Lines. Carries out assigned responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting packaging supervisors with assigning and directing works.

Required Skills

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience


Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups or one on one with employees or management personnel.


Mathematical Skills


Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement.


Reasoning Ability


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


Computer Skills


To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Manufacturing software utilized in the packaging machines and metal detectors.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The temperature in the environment is cold, ranging from 55 F to 65 F. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and hearing protection is required.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
