Operations Intern

Job Purpose
The Operations Intern will work primarily under the direction of four Managers throughout JNAM Operations in performing related daily operational responsibilities for the JNAM sub-advised and third-party mutual funds.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Corporate Actions
Review and reconcile class action documents from multiple custodians
Assist in the preparation of daily ex dividend accrual verification to ensure proper posting of income to the funds. Research and reconcile discrepancies as necessary
Perform several different daily operations, such as custody reconciliation of corporate actions settlements.
Coordination via phone and email with sub-advisors, brokers, agents, and vendors
Assist in the identification and processing of mandatory and voluntary corporate actions, such as exchanges, mergers, splits, rights distributions and reorganizations and the communication of such to the fund accounting staff
Perform other assignments and ad hoc projects as requested
Data Integrity
Review the initial set-up of securities to facilitate the on-going maintenance of monitoring securities for upcoming changes in investment parameters such as interest rates, maturities, credit changes, etc.
Review trade tickets from Fund Accounting for Over-the Counter and SWAP securities
Research data for all asset classes utilizing Bloomberg, Reuters, prospectus or other methods
Communicates with vendors to evaluate and determine the accuracy of data
Review daily reports and investigate any outliers and propose recommendations for over-ride
Liaise with numerous business areas including Fund Accounting, Reporting, Valuation, Compliance, front office and outside vendors to ensure all market data is accurate and challenge any data in question
Valuation
Submit, monitor and record the results of vendor pricing challenges for significant vendor differences identified by the Valuation Team
Assist with weekly stale pricing reporting
Inventory and file daily pricing files the morning after their creation
Assist with certain month-end reporting
Support the pricing team with the submissions of vendor prices in special circumstances or when needed
Coordination via phone and email with sub-advisors, brokers, agents, and vendors
Perform other assignments and ad hoc projects as requested
Separate Accounts
Assist with general ledger reconciliation
Execute general ledger adjustments
Assist with various cash processing tasks
Perform other assignments and ad hoc projects as requested

Knowledge, Skills &Abilities
Ability to work 20 to 25 hours per week during the school year; preferably morning hours
Desire to learn about the financial services industry
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Understanding of databases and some familiarity with MS Access preferred
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor's degree candidate in finance, accounting, or related field
Job Level that this position reports to (i.e., Supervisor, Manager, Director, etc.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
