Overview:
The United Airlines Flight Operations Intern Program (FOIP) is designed to give enrolled students insight and exposure into the operation of a global airline. The FOIP combines a student's academic and career interests with valuable work experience in the commercial air carrier environment.
During the internship the student will be assigned a mentor to work with who is responsible for monitoring their progress throughout the semester. The mentor will be responsible for assigning tasks, special projects and directing the intern on a daily basis. Throughout the course of the FOIP, the responsibility of the interns will not only encompass their respective base and office, but there may also be opportunities to travel to other cities within our network on business trips and off site visits.
Responsibilities:
Keeping the Flight Training Standards library up to date
Perform flight manual revisions and Jeppesen revisions
Responsible for the coordination of intern activities and the preparation of new incoming interns
Sort and evaluate international flight envelopes and keeps track of the previous day's pilot sick calls
Assist the Chief Pilot's Office with various tasks such as monitoring video surveillance systems, Flight Operation's Delay Mitigation reports with focuses on CLP, Diversions, Radio Congestion, and ACARS
Other as-needed jobs include filing memoranda, retrieving information from pilot files and various projects
Assemble class materials for incoming new hire classes and training classes
Help pilots with iPad software questions
Manage and maintain flight planning rooms
Assist the FODM daily for various projects
Must be a current student perusing a bachelor's degree in aeronautical science or related field
Must be at least a Junior, Senior or Graduate Student within one year of graduation at the start of the internship
FAA Instrument rating required
FAA Commercial Certificate highly preferred
FAA Multi-Engine Rating preferred
FAA Medical (First, Second, or Third) required
Minimum of a 3.0 GPA required
Valid U.S. Passport required
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S for any employer without sponsorship
Must pass a U.S. drivers/criminal background check and drug screen
Must be willing to find and pay for housing in respective city

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
