Job overview and responsibilities
As a Senior Developer in the Customer Technology Platform - Pre-Travel space you will be responsible for building and expanding web services in the flight shopping, booking and other pre-travel functional areas that deliver new capabilities to United Airline's customers. To succeed, the skill to build highly scalable, fault-tolerant systems working in an agile environment is a must. You'll be responsible for helping to represent our team both technically and as a mentor to other developers. Effective collaboration skills are a critical. In this role you must be able to think on your feet and have the ability to stand on your own as you are empowered to make your own design decisions.
Responsibilities
Leads the software development team(s) during the design/build phases of the SDLC
Support and troubleshoot software systems as required, optimizing performance, resolving problems, and providing follow-up on all issues and solutions
Develop appropriate software documentation
Complete comprehensive unit testing on all developed/enhanced software
Works/Consults across multiple projects
Works on complex projects that require subject matter expertise
Provides direction, tools, technical and process support to less senior developers
Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of SDLC processes, inputs/outputs , standards and best practices
Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of development methodologies, software design and design patterns, integration standards as well as its applicability at coding and testing cycles
Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of software engineering best practices such as:
versioning and versioning control, software packaging and software release management
Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of the application of development domain areas and specific technologies and tool set
Demonstrate proficient knowledge of application architecture and architecture constructs as it connects to the enterprise architecture

Education
BS/BA (Preferably in a technical or scientific field) and/or equivalent experience, education and/or training required

Thorough knowledge and experience with Microsoft Technology Stack, Windows Server OS (2008, 2012), IIS 7, 7.5, MSMQ, .Net Framework 4.0, 4.5 required
Experience with multiple RDBMS, SQL Server (2008, 2012), Oracle 11g preferred
Knowledge and experience with Software Development Languages & Tools, C#, Asp.net/MVC, MS Visual Studio, MS TFS required
Experience in highly scalable web services preferred
1-2 years in Airline Industry preferred
