Financial Accounts Tech
This Financial Accounts Technician position is located in the VISN 12 Great Lakes Finance Service (GLFS) at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, IL. The incumbent serves in the Fiscal Service as the Financial Accounts Technician and Travel Assistant. DUTIES INCLUDE:
Reviews documents for validity of budget data, expenditure limitation, accounting data, and for proper authorization and compliance. Certifies fund availability for commitments, and obligations. Prepares correspondence concerning the status of outstanding obligations. Receives, analyzes, and classifies all training/travel allotments and initiation documents. Reviews computerized data output and verifies it with manual data. Trains travel staff on the travel software utilized by the travel office. Provides assistance to the budget team in researching and tracking questionable travel related funds. Serves as the central point of contact for all employee travel. Prepares travel authorities, travel vouchers and travel advances. Informs employees of any changes to the policies and procedures regarding the travel program. Serves as an alternate cashier performing the full scope of Teller duties. Work Schedule:

Experience:
Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level which provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Financial Accounts Technician. Specialized experience includes but is not limited to:
Cashier experience and experience performing teller duties. Experience entering, modifying and correcting information in a computerized accounting system. Experience and knowledge of federal travel regulations. Experience completing various federal travel forms and reviewing travel claims and expenditure reports. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:
