Position Summary

As a member of the Legal & Compliance Department, the Legal Operations Manager will report to the Assistant General Counsel in Chicago, Illinois.
The Legal Operations Manager will drive the strategic planning and execution of key initiatives that increase efficiencies, productivity and operational excellence within James Hardie s Legal & Compliance (L&C) Department globally, through implementing and administering new processes and systems to optimize efficiency and reduce spend, promoting professional development, improving knowledge management capabilities and improving communications.

Position Responsibilities

Strategic Program

Develop the legal operations strategy for James Hardie (including annual goals, objectives, key results and other metrics), and work with General Counsel and senior L&C leadership to implement the L&C Department s strategic plan

Lead and serve as program manager for strategic operational initiatives critical to ensuring that the L&C Department can deliver the services necessary for the business

Periodically benchmark L&C Department operations, processes and practices against other legal departments, and identify opportunities for enhancement

Implement and manage the L&C Department s metrics, benchmarking and reporting

Build strong relationships within the L&C team, and other cross-functional stakeholders including Finance, IT and HR

Outside Counsel Management

In conjunction with L&C leadership, lead the planning, implementation and monitoring of initiatives to both optimize the efficiency of and reduce the spend on vendors (outside counsel and other third-party vendors), while ensuring quality in services including fee arrangement negotiations, onboarding and offboarding, payment processes, and governance of billing guidelines

Work collaboratively with the General Counsel and L&C leadership to manage the strategic selection of panel law firms and drive law firm performance management

Benchmark performance, rates and other engagement terms, and drive the use of alternative fee structures and billing arrangements

Technology and Process

Help develop and periodically benchmark L&C s technology roadmap, and manage the L&C Department s technology initiatives such as matter management, contract management, e-signature, and other internal resources

Liaise with the IT team on identifying, implementing, integrating, and optimizing applications and tools, and building internal tools and automation capabilities

Lead operational continuous improvement efforts based upon ongoing experience, process metrics and feedback from stakeholders including taking a lead role in the design, development and deployment of key processes, tools, guidelines and templates to improve the efficiency of the L&C Department

Drive the L&C Department s professional development, including the development and delivery of initiatives that promote collaboration and knowledge sharing (such as centralized / templated resources and processes)

Develop resources and tools for the business to self-serve on legal issues, as well as training resources for the L&C team to use with business partners

Finance

Monitor and advise on the L&C Department s budget planning, providing analytics and insights to budget owners within L&C

Partnering with the Finance team, monitor budget constraints and actual performance against budgets and forecasts, identify spending trends, potential cost savings, and efficiency opportunities

Position Requirements

5
years post-graduate experience, primarily in legal department, law firm or business management/strategic operations

Minimum of 2 years of legal department, law firm and/or related program/project management experience, working with senior legal executives (or similar senior executives) to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the legal department, and to execute a variety of process improvement, capability development, and technology projects

Strong project management and/or continuous improvement skills

Technological aptitude and ability to learn new technologies or systems

Strong relationship management skills and the ability to manage external service providers

A general understanding of change management practices and techniques

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
