The Senior Analyst:
Innovation and Capacity Projects
, will serve as a strategic business partner, focusing on New Product Innovation (NPI) and capacity expansion projects. The core responsibility of this role is cross functional partnering with R&D, Central Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, Commerical and Supply Chain teams to deliver high impact projects expediciously and at maximum financial return. These projects are global in nature and success at them directly impacts delivering on the pillars of the James Hardie strategy.

The individual will be the finance subject matter expert on a broad manner of topics such as product costing, machine performance, and supply chain impact and will lead the business case and capex development processes for the finance team. This will require a clear understanding of both big picture strategic objectives of the business such as customer value creation and profitable growth, as well the details of design, engineering, manufacturing, accounting and supply chain related to the specific projects.

Position Responsibilities

Partner with product development teams throughout the innovation process to bring new products successfully to market

  • Develop business cases for new product concepts and maintain these from initial discovery to concept feasibility, develoment, implementation, and beyond. The primary outputs will be product costing and capital spend, but the indiviual will also synthesize price and volume components to wholistically evaluate products.
  • Be the guardian of business outcomes such as return on investment and profitability and present unbiased analysis to ensure decisions being made that optimize these.
  • Evaluate risks and opportunities to understand the wide range of potential outcomes to projects.
  • Analyze performance vs key performance indicators (KPI s) for products in the trial and ramp-up phases of manufacturing. Provide insight into gaps to business case performance to the operations team and synthesize results upward to management

Partner with engineering teams to deliver sound capital projects that deliver needed business results on time and on budget.

  • Give financial analysis and recommendations that help to stear the projects towards desired results as they are being scoped and developed. Leverage specific tools such as Kepner-Tragoe analyses and sensitivity analysis to ensure quality, efficency, and repeatibility of work.
  • Lead the capital expenditure request (CER) process, integrating within the project teams and up through the organization to deliver CER documents that clearly communicate project plans and expected business outcomes.

  • Proven technical and business writing skills. Able to distill complex and technical information precisely and clearly in longform writing.

  • Strong analytical skills:
    Very comfortable with using and adapting tools such as discounted cash flows, pro-forma financial statements and scenario analyses as situations require. Microsoft excel expertise required, experience working with a standard costing system a plus.

  • Planning, Organizing, and Prioritizing:
    Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments while meeting deadlines and demanding quality execution of themselves and others.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Engineering; MBA preferred
  • Formal project management training or experience a plus
  • 4-6 years of total experience with 3 5 years of related finance experience
  • Experience in operations, supply chain, manufacturing or product development preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
