Business Strategy Manager, Retail

Position Summary

The Retail Business Strategy Manager will help lead the Interiors and Exteriors retail business, reporting to the VP Retail Development.
This position will have ownership of delivering long-term market share and sales growth in the North American markets for James Hardie, with focus on our Exteriors and Interior product lines and sold through key Retailers and Pro Channel customers.
These customers will include The Home Depot, Lowe s, Floor & D cor, Daltile, as well as end users of our product line.
They will be responsible for developing strategic plans to improve / grow Retail, exceed goals and targets and improve profitability by analyzing business strategies and providing recommendations.
This role will lead multiple projects and initiatives aimed at driving growth across the full spectrum of our game plan (product, customer, pricing, marketing, supply chain, and sales process and execution).
This position will serve as a key contributor to business insight development and subsequent short and long term strategy recommendations
and adjustments.
Travel is expected to be 30%.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development and leads implementation of new initiatives to drive long-term market share growth, primarily for Home Depot with James Hardie Brands through the following:

  • Develop and Execute Retail Strategy for growth, profitability, sustainability, and operational excellence, delivering clear and defined objectives.
  • Provide reporting, measurement, and insights to ensure all efforts result in maximum ROI and efficiency.
  • Help Retailers accelerate their social media presence by utilizing online tools to maximize brand visibility to develop strong relationships and engagement.
  • Develop an interactive strategy and operational plans to integrate marketing initiatives for high profile B2C Retailers.
  • Collaborate with account team to develop business strategies to achieve James Hardie Global Strategy.
  • Review and recommend improvements to existing business strategies.
  • Develop business presentations when required.
  • Work with the team to develop innovative business process or products and models.
  • Identify business gaps and propose corrective actions.
  • Recommend business improvements based on market and competitive trends.
  • Perform root cause analysis of potential problems and provide effective resolutions
  • Develop business cases based on business analytics and competitive intelligence.
  • Develop business plan and complete all due diligence activities.
  • Perform business modeling to optimize business functionality and performance.
  • Collaborate with various departments to collect business data to complete timely analysis.
  • Perform business analysis and reporting for decision making purposes.
  • Provides reporting and insights to ensure efficiency, identifies gaps and proposes corrective actions both internally and externally
  • Contributes to the development of Retail segment marketing strategy for their focus areas and partners with marketing team on the deployment of marketing activation and sales tools.
  • Identifies optimal product portfolio needed to win in the segment and develops the business case for new product, process, or technology innovation initiatives.
    Partners with Products and R&D team on the NPI process.
  • Understands market conditions and competitive strategies and creates business plans to address opportunities and threats.
  • Leads development and usage of management and sales reporting tools to track progress against goals and identify strategy shifts.
  • Gains deep understanding of our key Retailers, Pro Channel Partners, and tile installers and develops compelling customer and market programs to ensure access to the products in the market.
  • Identifies gaps and helps support national account and segment sales managers.
  • Works with various cross-functional partners including:
    Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, R&D, HR, and Product Management.

Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully understand profit and loss techniques and skills to develop and evaluate business goals and strategies, analyze information to derive insights and implications to initiate planning and/or re-planning, and controlling actual results versus budget.
  • Superior interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, and proprietary software).
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30%.

Education/Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • Three or more years of experience in sales, channel, or product marketing management
  • Market research and business insight development experience
  • Proven project management experience in a cross-functional environment
  • Business to business plus business to consumer marketing experience (preferred)

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
