Bridging the gap between the One-Twenty and Super Eight model lines, the Clipper debuted with Packards Nineteenth Series models on March 4, 1941 and was first available for purchase the next month.
Featuring modern styling and riding a new chassis designed with a generous 127-inch wheelbase, the Clipper brought the traditionalist Packard marque to the forefront of automotive styling as the lowest and widest Packard model to date.
A single-model Packard line, the Clipper was only offered as a handsome 4-door touring sedan with seating for up to 6.
The Clippers 282 cubic-inch 8-cylinder engine was shared with the One-Twenty and a compression bump raised output to 125 horsepower.
Following WW II, Packard sold its tooling for the Clipper to the Soviet Union and it continued in basic essence there for many years.
In America, the Clipper was produced through 1947 and it remains one of Packards best of the immediate pre and postwar era.
Continuing to benefit from a show-quality restoration, this 1941 Packard Clipper was formerly owned by a Packard collector.
Handsomely finished in 2-tone green leather and grey pinstriped cloth uphostery, the Clipper features a 282 cubic-inch inline 8-cylinder engine, 3-speed manual transmission and radio with folding roof-mount antenna.
Select upgrades for touring enjoyment include:
air conditioning, a high-end audio system, enhanced safety with a 3rd brake light and signal lights and a modern 12-volt electrical upgrade to power everything properly.
Proper body-color steel wheels, full hubcaps and wide whitewall tires finish off this beautifully presented first-year Clipper.
Freshly serviced and detailed at The Last Detail, this 1941 Packard Clipper is ready to tour, show and enjoy with pride.
